The International Mustang Horse Association (IMHA) is excited to announce that we are now accepting Forest Service mustangs for registration and participation in IMHA events.
Until now, eligibility has been focused on mustangs adopted through the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). With this update, horses adopted through U.S. Forest Service programs can also be officially registered, compete in IMHA-approved shows, and earn points toward awards and lifetime records.
This decision reflects our mission to recognize and support all government-adopted mustangs as they transition from the range into new lives with their owners. Whether a horse comes from BLM or Forest Service lands, they share the same resilient spirit and deserve opportunities to showcase their abilities, versatility, and partnership with their handlers.
Owners of Forest Service mustangs can now submit registration applications with the appropriate adoption documentation, photos, and fees, just as BLM adopters do. Once registered, these horses will be fully eligible for IMHA classes, incentives, and year-end awards.
We believe this is an important step in growing opportunities for mustangs nationwide while staying true to our values of horse welfare, fair competition, and community support.
